A 1930’s Hackney Wedding: Sam & Joe

What a wedding! A 1930’s, Art Deco, Hollywood glamour fest, all under the wonderful roof of Hackney Town Hall and their fabulous Assembly Rooms! Phew! Sam and Joe certainly know how to celebrate in style. Getting ready at the Town Hall Hotel just down the road in Bethnal Green, I met up with Sam and was totally blown away - she looked amazing. In a bejewelled dress by Spanish designer Rosa Clara and a beautifully elegant feathered head dress by Victoria Millesime, she looked every inch the 30’s movie star and had a sassy glint in her eye to match. Down to The Old Ship, I joined Joe looking just as marvellous in a dashing wool suit by Jack Bunney already smiling like the cat that got the cream. Nothing had been overlooked at this wedding; every little detail and flourish had been carefully designed and selected to follow the theme and the atmosphere was jubilant. Guests guzzled champagne, cocktails and my favourite, iberico ham; music and laughter rang out around the stunning art deco architecture - it was an epic party. Then the three of us stepped out onto the quiet back streets of Hackney for a few portraits and - BOOM! They didn’t just look the part - they owned every shot, knowing just how to stand and how to be, just totally comfortable with each other and in their own skin. My job was easy.

Here’s how it all looked. Congratulations you two, thanks for being utterly marvellous!

Wow, cool post. I’d like to write like this too – taking time and real hard work to make a great article… but I put things off too much and never seem to get started. Thanks though.

Gorgeous, and full of art deco goodness. Love the simplicity, but how every frame still seems like part of the flavour and look of the whole. :)
