A Romantic Scottish Wedding: Eilidh & Rory

Edinburgh is breathtaking, one of my favourite places in the world. So when Eilidh and Rory got in touch I jumped at the chance to travel there and photograph their beautiful Scottish wedding. The sun was just climbing when I walked through sleepy Bruntsfield to get to Eilidh’s beautiful house. Built a few years ago on a plot just next to her family home, Eilidh designed the house where she and her bridesmaids were getting ready, and boy does she have a great eye. It’s a wonderfully bright and colourful space with clean lines and some clever touches, but most importantly of all it’s filled with a wonderful warmth, one that her family extend to anyone who visits. It was a lovely relaxed place to start the big day. Then off I zipped to Humbie church, just a few miles outside of Edinburgh, nestled in the sumptuous green belt of the city, to catch up with film maker Rory and photograph their very moving ceremony. After warming up with some boozy hot chocolate it was on to the stunning Winton Castle for dinner, fire pits and all the merriment you could think of. Eilidh and Rory have to be one of the sweetest couples I’ve ever met and their friends and family welcomed me with open arms; it’s photographing weddings like theirs that make me feel incredibly privileged to do the job I do. Thank you for having me E&R x
